Still no word on the job but met with the surgeon for my follow up this morning and it's official that my thyroid was not cancerous woohoo! Said one of the growths on it is a type of tumor that can sometimes be pre malignant though so it's good we did this now. some weight off my shoulders! Yes!! Glad it wasn't as serious and was caught early

I hope it went well for you coffeechick, I recently changed departments this year and it was like starting a new job it is nerve wracking but after a few hours it was all good. Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks, ackack! It went pretty well. It totally wasn't a big deal that I didn't know my employee number or have a hat and the coworkers I worked/trained with were great. I even got to make a cappuccino and managed to catch a bagel on fire (which was promptly handled and put out as to not burn down the building.)

That's very true haha! They didn't act like it was a big deal though, so I'd say it happens every now and then. The bagels kind of get stuck in the toaster sometimes lol

I have a 5 am shift tomorrow and the past week the earliest I've been able to fall asleep has been 3 am (still having lots of sleep troubles) so I guess we'll see how that goes

That's not good...I'm still running on fumes too. How's the job going though? I'm right there with you...I fell asleep for about an hour and a half only to wake up and not be able to fall back asleep. The job is going pretty well though. Most of what I've done so far have been pretty basic task- slicing bagels, slicing bread, getting drinks when people order something we keep behind the counter, running tables, etc. My job is in fast food, so it's not rocket science or anything, it's just a lot to learn. I mostly need to work on training on the register and figuring out where things are to restock them. The managers seem pleased with my work though, so that's reassuring. I hope you're able to get some rest tonight or at least sometime soon, ackack. I know it's rough running on little to no sleep.

Thanks for that. It's not the going to sleep that's hard it's staying asleep. I don't know what's wrong with me I must be in love or something.
Hey don't knock it, a job is a job and if you apply yourself 100% most of the time ( you're allowed off days 😉) then that makes you a good person. We all start somewhere in life and each job is a stepping stone to greater things.
Unless your colin and you've peaked and resorted to putting baby clothes on.

Coffee chick is it cliche to say I hope the coffee helps get you through your shift?
Same for yo ack, but it doesn't have as nice of a ring to it.

I finally got a decent night's sleep after working a 5 am shift on an hour and a half of sleep, so maybe that'd do the trick for you too (though I don't recommend it haha.) But yeah, I'm trying not to be like colin so I'll keep working for a living and not trying on baby clothes for twelve year old minions lol

Venting because I've been waiting for a contractor to get here all day. He said he would come between 10 and noon. At noon we phoned and he said he would be here in the next hour. It's now 12:42 still waiting. This is how I wanted to spend my day off, I don't think. I missed going to the pool this morning to stay home for this. grrrrrr

Glad my husband didn't take the morning off work for it, it's now 1:15pm and no sign of the guy. So "in the next hour" was a lie.
We had to rebuild our deck, and my husband did most of the work, this is for the deck surfacing for which we need a pro since half the deck is over interior space.
The thing in this town is that they are all so busy that one job is not that important to them.

Not that it might do much.

Since this is a venting thread I am not trying to be a Debbie downer but the Colleen thread is becoming a freakin social chat that has nothing to do with Colleen. I come to read about Colleen not the chat crap. I thought there is a general chat section for that.

I've been letting it go atm because there is still plenty of colleen stuff mixed in, however if you find that it's a bit too much in the future, you're welcome to message myself, smash or any of the mods and we can give people a gentle reminder

I'm going to vent/complain so if you don't want to read that, I'd suggest skipping my post. I'm a type 1 diabetic, have been for like 12 years, and most days it's fine and I don't get upset about any inconveniences that being diabetic causes. Tonight, however, I'm fed up and just want to cry, honestly. I was laying in bed, noticed my eyes felt weird (which usually means my blood sugar is high or low), and decided I should check my blood sugar and my blood sugar was superrrr low (like 28, when it's supposed to be between 80 and 120.) Being that low is scary in and of itself (like, I'm not sure how I didn't pass out and I'm sure I must have been close to doing so) but it's even scarier when your body isn't giving you signs your blood sugar is low. My only symptom was my eyes feeling weird. Now I'm scared to go to sleep because I'm afraid I'll go low in my sleep and not feel it again...which is never a fun feeling. I don't know why I'm even typing this out. Most people don't understand diabetes unless they or someone close to them have it and I feel like this post might just confuse people. I guess I just needed to get it off my chest. So, if you read this, thanks I guess. Sorry to be a Debby downer..

It's not super common for it to drop so low, but it does occasionally happen. I keep a bottle of sugar tablets by my bed so I ate a couple of those and waited a minute to go downstairs and get milk and an apple to hopefully help keep my blood sugar from dropping again. I probably should have woken someone up to be with me in case I did for some reason pass out, but I'm usually hesitant to do that, not that anyone would care if I did wake them up
