I know most of the talk on this thread has been about GB and all the drama that's gone down this week, but are we allowed to vent about other things too?
(I'm not complaining or trying to sound like I dislike the way this thread is now, I'm just frustrated about work and wondered if I could vent about it here lol)

My vent today is vehicle insurance companies in the UK, thieving useless shysters the fucking lot of them.
I've been trying to renew my bike insurance for 3 weeks now as it's due on Saturday. Comparison websites have taken the sting out of it but the fuckers still use your details to sell to call centres to spam you night and day with the same old shit.

So, I got my job at the end of April and because of communication issues (mostly just a lack of communication from work) I'm just now starting (well, I actually start next week, but that's beside the point.)
I showed up for orientation twice only to be told to come back on a different day both times, but kept my cool about it because things happen, that's just life. Then I finally go for orientation and they say they'll call me in a few days to tell me when to come back for training. Fast forward to almost a week later, they still haven't called so I called them to see what I could find out. They told me they'd call the next day with a training schedule...aaand then they never called (again.) So, I finally had to call today and found out when I'm supposed to go (thank goodness.)
Maybe this is pretty normal (I don't know, this is my first job) but it's been super frustrating. Hopefully things improve from here on out.

They sound disorganized as fuck. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. That's the worst. It's like let me work for you already!!!!

Coffee chick, I agree, with other sentiments. That sounds so disorganized. I hope it at least gets better and more together.

Today has been utter shit. Am currently staying at home to take care of my 2 month old (because fuck proper maternity leave in the us right?) so I've been able to successfully breastfeed. Today has been rough with him not wanting to eat properly, which means screaming child, no sleep. Also my husband, not from the us, just started a new job and the old company is bitter and threatening to turn him into to immigration if he doesn't work one more day.

So I'm exhausted, feel like shit, my baby is the same, and my husbands frantically contacting his immigration lawyer for advice. Oh and I was rejected from a stay at home job I was applying for 🙃

Oh yeah, he's here legally. They're threatening to lie about stuff he did when there was a lapse in his former visa with his current one. He's already contacted his immigration attorney but it's just like, for fucks sake, really? I mean it's obvious why he started a new job. Silver lining: he's out of the old one.

Sneaky fuckers, it's actually illegal in the UK to stitch someone up moving to a new job. You can't even give a bad reference unless you did something illegal.

I do now (after finally getting to talk to a manager yesterday.) To be fair, I haven't actually done much work yet (it's mostly been me trying to get someone to tell me a date for training) and I did get paid for the orientation I went to 

All right so I'm going to vent too. I was laid off from my job on May 5. I had been there for two and a half years and I've never been laid off in my 15+ years of working so I felt pretty blindsided. I've been on the job hunt since. A couple weeks ago my company reached out to me about rehiring me to support a new client they were bringing on, and it was actually going to be a promotion. I was very excited. The manager was going to draft up an offer with HR and get back to me. I never heard from him last week and was getting nervous but knew he was really busy too. Then he calls me this week and leaves me a voicemail saying that they don't think they need to expand the team at this point after all and sorry but no they're not going to be able to hire me back right now, but that he'd like to keep the door open because he really likes my background and resume. Like seriously?! I've let this company screw me over twice in a month. So done. I'm just crushed because I thought this was basically done and I was so excited about the opportunity.

Plus on top of that I had to have surgery Tuesday to have my thyroid removed so that's been a fun adventure. It's been painful and I have to wait on biopsy results to find out if it's benign because there's a chance the thyroid was cancerous. Small chance and the surgeon thought things at least looked good but I still have that hanging over my head too. Just not a good week and I wanted to rant and be pathetic for a minute. Pity party over. LOL.

What happened to the good old days of doing interview and starting the next Monday and just getting on with it. Inductions and orientation didn't exist when I started work 😁

Jesus ratchet don't know what to say to that. Jobs come and go but I do hope your health is ok.
Good luck with the biopsy and job hunting. Did you get a decent redundancy package?

That's ridiculous!  I've never heard of something like that happening before.  I really hope things get better for you!

 Uh, that doesn't sound legal at all.  Why the hell would they threaten someone like that?!?  I do hope your husband is able to get in touch with his lawyer and everything works out okay.

oh man, Ratchet.  I'm so sorry.  I hope everything goes well with the thyroid.  I have a co-worker who went through a very similar situation with that (had thyroid removed and tested) and everything turned out to be benign.  Sending positive vibes that the same goes for you too!  

Good luck on the job front as well.  That's a real shit move by your old company - I hope you find something soon!

Nope I got nothing except a couple weeks heads up and my insurance carried through the end of May. Everything else I have to handle through unemployment.

Yep I'm in the US. Don't blame me though. I'm Mexican American. I don't want that wall. I'll leave it at that.

But yeah, even here though what his former employers are doing is highly illegal. His attorney is on it.
