It's very... scripted. No, wrong word. I guess? As in, oh quirky main character, oh goofy dad (or in this case uncle) who goes along with the main character, oh the normal mom who tries to keep it together, ah the normal sister who's tired of main character's shenanigans, and there's the love interest who's as weird as the main character and is a perfect match for them even though they don't know it until the end. Predictable is the word, I guess.

yup, she's always been mean to her mum, but more in a "omg she grounded me i hate her" way. I found that the whole uncle thing was WAY over the top, by ep 4 i wanted him off the screen. I hate it when chars are over the top insufferable. there's already miranda they didn't need the uncle I'm afraid there will be much much more of that uncle in season 2, because Colleen thinks he is hilarious. It seemed to me that he became a much bigger part because of how much she loves all of his "improv." |

Finished the first 4 episodes so far... Is it just me or is the Patrick character insufferable? Or maybe every time I see him I just seethe because he was a -speculated- large part in the J&C divorce.. I just cringe when he comes on screen, every time. For someone who watched before the divorce and Josh booty clappin tweets, is the Patrick character actually that awful?

He gets a little better in the last ep, but it almost feels like a reflection of josh and colleen and the way he doted over her |

I watched all of season 1 out of boredom and finished because I didn't want to be a quitter lol. I honestly feel like that show ruined me. It's like a badly made Napoleon Dynamite knock off. I completely agree. I was so underwhelmed by it. I didn't laugh once. All the jokes were for children, but the plot was for adults. They didn't seem to have any idea what they wanted to do with the show other than reveal Mirandas family and give her a dumb romance. |

Napoleon Dynamite was definitely not for everyone and I know Colleen (or maybe Chris) made a point of saying that last year before the show came out. But ND had this cult following because of its weirdness and deviation from the norm. HBO will never be that (unless s2 gets one million percent better) because it's not cute and quirky, it's predictable with a "spin" of weird. Besides her minions, literally no one else will like the show. And if they give it a chance when s2 comes out, I assure you a new viewer will never get past s1.

I don't have Netflix, but I hear people talk about shows on Netflix all the time....shows they can't miss. I have never heard a single person, except a minion, talk about HBO as a must see. I saw bits of it leaked on Youtube and it was a disaster!
This was a show that tried way too hard. It was uncomfortable to watch.THe only time I even smiled was when she fell on a banana peel. "She" /stunt double.
And, like others have mentioned, I am not easily offended, but the whole Uncle Jim/sexual hints in her videos have always been really creepy and borderline harmful to her young fans.

The main reason I didn't like HBO is there is no character that is sympathetic except for the sister. I hated Miranda and couldn't sympathize with her at the end. She had no redeeming qualities.

Also - she commented on the Miranda video as PsychoSoprano to say "leave my cat alone"....Why?

It's most certainly the worst, so I appreciate Josh's acknowledgment/ranting about how seeing Colleen and her happy/happy/happy!!!! attitude is super difficult to see--especially in contrast with his own sadness. |
