Does anyone else here participate in musicals? I've done them in high school and at college.

Luckily creating sub boards is easy 😉 But I'll take the compliment

I haven't since Elementary school. I'm a "keep to myself" kind of person now and it's also not in my career path. I enjoy watching, not participating 😊

I love musicals. Phantom of the opera is probably my favorite, though I also have a strong love for Fiddler on the Roof, though I haven't seen that live, only the movie. I've also seen wicked and book of Mormon and completely adore them as well. Have also see mamma Mia which was definitely a solid watch!!!!

Oh yeah Fiddler is so good. I've only seen the movie as well but I love it. I saw Matilda and that one was okay. Cute but not my absolute favorite. I did musicals/theatre in high school, but haven't since.

Ohhh I forgot about Mama Mia, I saw the theater movie version in high school

I love Mama Mia! I keep remembering musicals I've seen and I'm just like I could be considered a theater kid but too bad I have never had talent to actually be a theater kid lolololol

I was lead in guys and dolls (Sara Brown) and did a lot of solo, wedding, also choir stuff
I went to the same college as Colin 5 years before she did and I almost majored in music and theater.
The school does have a great music program.

I personally hate how much both her and Kory rip apart the school.
I loved it & never understood why they didn't transfer out if they hated it.

Does anyone here like the Legally Blonde musical? I've always loved the movie but I really appreciate some of the changes the musical took, such as giving Emmett and Elle scenes to show their relationship grow.

Legally Blonde is my guilty pleasure. I hope to play Elle someday 😂

newday, was it as religious and strict as they implied?

I haven't actually seen Legally Blonde, but they had a reality show about it on MTV in 2008 or 2009 and I loved watching it. I liked the music from it and I'd like to see it.

They probably just didn't really fit in with anyone they met and decided to take it out on the school because that's easier, instead of admitting to that, from the sound of it. Which is unfortunate.

Is the musical theatre program good?

Man I'm glad I found this thread. Musicals are like, my life. Literally. I went to school for music and I'm hoping to make a career with musical theatre or opera performance. I have a BUNCH of faves. Too many to name, tbh. All ones that have been named, and many more!

A few that haven't been named though? I love Little Women (might be biased as I played Jo March in a production 2 years ago), most Sondheim (Into the Woods, Company, Sweeney Todd, Little Night Music, etc). Dogfight (such a fave of mine), Daddy Long Legs (cause I desperately want to play Jerusha and it is my voice type/quality), all the Disney ones (Newsies, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Hunchback of Notre Dame, etc.), Shrek the Musical, Next to Normal, Avenue Q...well I could go on but that's a little excessive.

I haven't been part of many shows (didn't have the money to train when I was young so I'm making up for lost time now) but since high school I've been in 5 musicals and 2 operas, all as named/principal characters and it's the best thing that's happened to me.

Is anyone here a fan of Andy Karl and Orfeh? I think their relationship is adorable and seeing them as Paulette and Kyle in Legally Blonde was amazing and I can only imagine how fun it must have been for them to pretend fall back in love with your spouse night after night. I also can't believe how many musicals Andy's been the star of as of late! (I really don't follow theatre and haven't until pretty recently so I was pretty out of the loop of his career)

Also Andy Karl is a beautiful man.

I love: heathers, fiddler on the roof (although I only have seen the movie), legally blonde, mamma Mia, and hairspray! I have only listened to some of the Hamilton album but I haven't actually seen it or any clips from it so my mind isn't made up about it yet but it seems pretty cool!(I am a history geek 🤓)
