^^ I agree! I was also thinking of George Washington Carver from the peanut clue, but Carter fits the other clues since he's from Georgia (Linsday's roots). Plus she said it was a fairly common name, which Carver is not, really. I love the DeFranco Fam videos; I just started watching like two weeks ago! My boyfriend loves Phil and got me to start watching the family vlogs. Trey is adorable and Lindsay is super real and seems like a great mom. I agree that they're the perfect antidote to Ballinger Family vlogs; I can't even enjoy those anymore since they seem so exploitative of the kids. I like that the DeFrancos aren't filming Trey's every waking moment. Agreed!! I started watching around the time the whole Shay Carl scandal was a thing, which somehow led me to Phil's show, which then led me to check out their vlogs bc that's usually the content I enjoy watching on YT and I got hooked! I think I binge watched most of their videos within a month 🙈 Trey is adorable ("that's amazing!") and I definitely agree with you on the filming him, I did notice that they'll stop if he's not into being filmed at the moment. It definitely feels more about lindz than Trey. i also noticed she does a lot of stuff for trey, whereas the ballingers don't do that so much. It's more about what will get good footage

I think I saw in one of her vlogs that she said that as he gets older they will be cautious about what they film and it will be up to Trey if it's included. She specifically mentioned that she didn't want things at school to be harder for him because of the vlogs. I whole-heartedly respect that. Its not all about the views/money for them like it is for other family vloggers.. (Cough- ballingers-cough)

I think it's nice that Phil is still on good terms with some people that worked at Sourcefed and that he's hiring them to his team.

Yay!! It took me a while to match a name to the clues though, I'll admit. Also, the way Trey announced the name was ADORABLE!
"Have a good weekend Carter" TOO cute.

This kitchen looks way too similar to theirs, especially after that pic of Phil and Trey got in the paper. Creeped me out when I saw it while shopping.

I love them. He and Linz remind me of me and my fiancé the way they interact. I also find them to be pretty much the only honest and grounded family blog and considering they're in LA that's impressive

It's...problematic, at best.

Trey's parent.... he has to demand some sort of respect (maybe demand is the wrong word, but you get it) as his father. I mean... that's how you get unruly asshole kids... they think they can get whatever they want and do whatever they want and speak to their parents however they want.

What do you guy's think about Phll's streamy vote approach? I'm personally frustrated that he is trying to make himself out to be the underdog and how he acts like buzzfeed and TYT are his competitors when he's really only tied with SP7(real underdogs).

I have to remind myself sometimes that he's not as huge as the Buzzfeed monster or like Colleen or Jenna... people I know in real life don't know of him at all, but have heard of Miranda Sings and Jenna Marbles and Buzzfeed

Phil and SP7 are tied for first place and buzzfeed is nowhere near them. The thing that is so weird though is PDS won last year for best show. I don't know what he's trying to achieve by acting like buzzfeed is his main competitor in this thing (if you're voting for the streamys I feel like you most likely at least have a grasp on who all these people are). Hell, Steven used to work at a place Phil created.

I think its rough that hes pushing to win but that kind of crap is ikmportant in the YT community and since hes independent now its probably more important to win than hand it to sp7 who i think deserve it. Why are they in the same category as defranco anyway they aren't news

Phil has been blocking people on twitter that point out he's not mentioning SP7 as his main competition for the Streamys. I feel like Phil thinks he's this great, non biased guy on a lot of issues but damn is he hot headed. Do you guys remember how he went off on someone who didn't understand "drinking the koolaid" was a reference to cult like behavior? He could have just said "Hey. I'm not racist." and explained the history of the phrase. I get the phrase is common knowledge but he seems to be so sensitive when someone points out anything bad about him (even if it was incorrect like someone thinking his koolaid comment was racist). Also it it's so absurd to me that he insists on not painting right wingers with broad strokes and claims that the extreme don't stand for everyone but then goes and sees extreme liberalism and says "this is why I'm not a liberal", doing the exact same thing he says not to do and paints the extremists as the one and only representative of the party/movement.

The problem is that right-wing people DO get painted like they are all confederate flag waving white supremacists. They have their own people making them look bad, the media painting them as monsters when a lot aren't. Some people simply don't agree with enough policies to feel like Hilary had their best interests, and that's fine. But liberals CAN be extreme and get away with a LOT more than Republicans. I'm liberal but I'm fully aware that people are over the top on our side too. So, I think that Phil tries to make an extra note that he is aware that not all Republicans are monsters and not all liberals are level-headed adults. He goes around it in a pretty childish manner but I don't think it's something he's trying to do to alienate a group of people intentionally. Plus he's supposed to be "unbiased", the last thing he wants is to lose viewers for clearly picking a side. Regarding SP7, would it have been any better if he said "don't vote for sp7, vote for us"? Steven used to work for his company, and I imagine they are probably close enough friends that it would be kinda mean to encourage people not to vote for sp7. I don't know much about the koolaid thing, i only found a tweet which wasn't that bad. did he make a video or something? Him and linz are both hot heads regarding that stuff, like sometimes i cringe when she goes full in on someone on twitter.

I'm not trying to say they're not! Just the fact that he reminds people so much "not all republicans are like the angry few" but goes and paints liberals with the same broad strokes he says not to paint republicans with. And yeah, he should at least mention SP7. I just think it's strange how he's trying to act like he's the underdog in this competition. He won last year. He's not the smaller channel. He's been around for years as opposed to SP7's 5-6 months.

Around 9:06 is when he replies to the kool aid comment. I get he's probably frustrated with comments like this but I just think he could have ignored the comment and not gone after someone. Imagine if an actual TV news anchor did that. They'd be fired right away. That's just me. Feel free to completely disagree.
