I was just thinking back to quite a few years ago on YouTube, and I'm showing my age now, but does anyone remember the original YouTubers like Renetto, Crossmack, TheHill88? They paved the way before "YouTuber" became a profession.
All of them reached the highs of YouTube fame before crashing down. Crossmack's situation is a bit like Colik's at the moment. He was very popular but struggled with all the hate his video's generated. He also had a drug problem which wasn't helped by being in the spotlight. Eventually he had to get out and completely stopped making videos.
TheHill88 went from nothing to working in New York helping a company their make videos. She lived the high life for a short while before moving back to Australia and studying theatre I think. Again she doesn't make video's anymore.
Paperlillies was a YouTuber from the UK. Eventually she became disenchanted with what YouTube turned into, many of her videos were sponsored and she felt like she was whoring herself out for money. But she had to keep doing it as she needed the money, but eventually the money wasn't enough to get by so she had to quit and get a real job. But she reflected on how much time she gave to YouTube and how that set back any career she may have had. In fact she said she eventually wished she had just stayed in her normal job.
Renetto was the original YouTube celebrity who cared so much about it and its community. As YouTube became more commercialised and the vlogging style changed from no edit, off the cuff videos to heavily edited, "Please like, comment subscribe" videos he just didn't want to, or couldn't adapt. Eventually he was no longer relevant and lost his following to newer, younger versions of himself.
In a few years I'm sure we'll add Colik to that list. Admittedly she'll have made a decent amount of money but I wonder will she have any regrets.

That's one of the things I like about Cristine from Simply Nailogical...people ask her all the time why she doesn't quit her full time job and just do YouTube, she has plenty of subscribers. To be fair to Colleen she has at least branched out to live shows, a book and a TV show. But they're all based on a character that will eventually die off. The rest of the Ballingers aren't in that position. I wonder how well Rachael's book has done? Not great I'd bet. Chris and Messica are relying on YouTube way too much now. |

I wonder when she will crack. You could tell she was getting annoyed with Todrick at the end of the vlog. But that Taylor swift connection though. She probably thinks she will soon be invited to join the "squad." Also funnily Todrick seems to know Ariana better/met her a lot more times than Colon.

Randomly came across this livestream from July 2016. The comments are filled with marriage problem speculation, for good reason. Around 16:00 Josh calls her and it's a pretty awkward exchange. Coline sounds uninterested in him and annoyed by his call. I mean he DOES sound a little needy, but I guess a hopeless romantic who has hardly seen his wife in their one year of marriage would naturally be a little desperate for some sort of affection. She just kind of brushes off everything he's saying and then once she hangs up she mocks the people saying their marriage is in jeopardy. They became so awkward and cringey toward the end because it was so obvious that a split was coming but Josh was trying desperately to cling onto the relationship.

I wonder if growing up in such a religious household affected Colleen and Chris's need to feel like they have to stay in relationships they weren't/aren't happy in. I wonder if Chris felt like he *had* to marry Jessica and be with one person for the rest of his life. Especially when all of you point out how it seems like he's getting tired of his family these days. And same goes for Colleen. I wonder if she felt like part of the reason she didn't say no when Josh proposed is because of any familial pressure or religious pressure. (Of course a lot of pressure must have come from fans who were obsessed with "Joshleen" but ignoring them). I honestly think Jessica is his beard |

I'm so done with her liking the "boobleen" posts from these children. There's something off-putting about the way they all obsess over her chest. Funny that she's the same person who came rallying to Jessica's defense by shouting "THE WHOLE REASON WOMEN HAVE BOOBS IS TO FEED BABIES". Last time I checked Colleen didn't have any kids so why is she displaying her boobs every chance she gets? Doesn't that kind of go against the whole idea of breasts not being a big deal?  I don't care however women want to show their breasts b/c they really AREN'T a big deal to me, but I just hate her hypocritical ass. ...also, I came across this picture and is it just me or is it awkward as hell? It looks like she's trying to show them off even in a pic with her baby nephew. Again, I don't think breasts should be seen as a big deal, but that angle is horrible. You can't even see her face, so it forces you to focus on them & Parker looks uncomfortable. Oh, and of course she has to add her big, gaping maw to top it off. Josh was probably SO relieved when she had a bad shoulder thinking he wouldn't have to hear that stupid ukulele for a while. No go. They also must be at his parents' house. He sounds irritated when he says "Can you come downstairs" or whatever he said. He must have known that she always acted too good for Georgia and even the cabin in Tennessee. It would be really hard to be sympathetic and empathetic to someone always complaining about an injury and then watch them make it worse. Josh should have "accidently" run over all 3000 of her ukuleles when he left Todrick and Colleen's house.  |

Why do I feel like whatever she's "nervous" to post about is going to be some sort of stunt. I don't for one second believe that she's gay or bi. We barely see her be genuine or nice to any girl she hangs around with. It's always big fakey BFF stuff or annoyance like when she was singing with Gabby. Even if she says she's bi, I will have a hard time believing that it's not a stunt (and I say this as a bi person.)
Part of me wants to think that Todrick comment about the house being gay enough either has to do with Kory or maybe even an underhanded comment about Josh. Not that I think Josh is gay but I'm sure Colleen must have said shit like that behind his back to other people.
I don't think they timed the divorce announcement for publicity, but it certainly didn't hurt in getting people to pay attention to her right before HBO came out. I'm sure she's looking for something else to drum up interest.

It looks like she may be realizing that the 'gay frat house' life isn't what she thought it would be. If Rachel quit being her sisters assistant, what made Kory think he would last in the job? It's kind of like how people say living with your best friend can be an awful idea (we're seeing that clearly) I'm sure working for her is no walk in the park.
I'm actually really anxious for her video on the off-chance she does have something big to say.

I think you're right, but I also think she depends on Gus for comfort and vlog/Snapchat material. The only things she films in Vancouver are Gus, her walk home, singing songs, and random emotional vlogs. Take away Gus and you're taking away a huge layer of her one-dimensional channel. I wonder if her content will improve once she is home for good. I thought it would but after watching her at home this week, it seems like she's just generally not happy right now and her content still sucks. Its hard to predict the future of her channel/career at this point. Maybe she is realizing how heavily she relied on Joshleen to keep her channel afloat. It bothers me that she's spending her summer in arguably one of the most beautiful cities in North America (I may be kind of biased) and she's not doing anything*. There's a lot to do in Vancouver. If she just got out and tried new things her content could be so much better. *Pretty sure all the shots of her "exploring Vancouver" are her going to a beach/park 5 minutes from her apartment for 5 minutes. She's editing 27 hours a day omg don't you know. She's obviously doing fuck all but the juggernaut HBO won't steer itself if her ladyship isn't there pissing about working like a trooper to bring us the finest comedy ever. |

The fact that she recently showed her pool etc in a vlog and now has let the front of her house/street be filmed makes me think she must know she is moving soon and so no longer cares - she has said that she wanted to downsize so if shes not going to be living there much longer she wont care who sees it.
Also hair - i always thought it was odd that all the women in the fam and the same long drab stringy hair style - Gwen, rachel, jess, stephanie, the other cousin with long hair - it reminds me of Amish where you get trad gender roles and the females have long hair because you are female. I personally dont think long hair is flattering on older women and especially in the case of gwen cos it just hangs there all dry and frizzy and gross - none of the women ever style their hair except colin. Its just a lot of long boring drab hair in that fam.

Especially since lots of people have to work away from home and their loved ones and most of them aren't in a financial position to go back home whenever they get the chance.
