Wanted to share this video I made of my boy at the dog wash today. He despises the bath. But I thought this video was neat.

Heyyy I just wanted to get someone's advice on something. My cat got an allergic reaction last summer/fall breaking him out in hives. I changed his food from chicken to duck and it went away. Now almost a year later the hives appeared again in the same location. So I switched him from duck to salmon. I've kept him on the new food for a week. The hives are not going away. Would people think this reaction is actually due to seasonal allergies instead of the food allergy? Any opinions people can give me I'd greatly appreciate it

No because when I introduced duck the hives went away. So I think that is something regarding chicken. But when I gave him salmon there was no change. I'm giving him medicine for it now and it's taking a while to heal. But I'm just chalking that up to how severe the hives were and it'll take time to show it's working. Also I'm paranoid and impatient. I don't really want to take him to the vet because the only thing they suggest is to change diet (no change) and steroids (currently doing). So I'm just going to believe it's seasonal due to the time and the fact changing food didn't do anything. My friend suggested maybe he's allergic to peas since the duck and salmon has peas in it too. But don't most all cat foods have vegetables in their food?

My cat's hair started falling off one year, in patches, and my wet told me that some cats get an allergic reaction if they eat food with too much protein, and I should change the type of food I'm giving her (I was trying something new at the time). So I changed the food and the hair grew back. I know it's not the same reaction but the wet mentioned allergies so I thought it's maybe helpful.

But don't most all cat foods have vegetables in their food? I'm not a vet, so obvi take this with a grain of salt but it sounds like possibly seasonal allergies. My cat (who passed from old age a year and a half ago) would get really itchy and have problems like that most of the year ( less itchy during winter). My vet mentioned that a food allergy would likely manifest as a swollen lip/face or gastro issues not necessarily hives. He's said the same for my dog now. She'll get really red on her belly and chin and he attributes that to environmental/ seasonal allergies. ( for the chin he mentioned dogs can be allergic to ceramic or plastic bowls so I use stainless steel for her- not sure where the hives are but maybe that's the same for cats too? I totally feel for you as I am paranoid about every little ailment my puppy might have... I hope everything is ok and you get some resolution on this soon!
