For any Whovians out there. This thread is good for the original Doctor Who or the 2005 reboot.

As much as I like Peter Capaldi (outstanding in the the thick of it) I can't gel with him being the Dr. I feel it has lost it's way since Matt Smith and Alex Kingston left. Did that coincide with one of the main writers leaving?
I did enjoy Torchwood though.

I feel that way too in some episodes. I miss River Song SO bad.
I'm a basic female and basically whenever the old doctor gives his approval over the new one is when I come around (when 11 called Clara to tell her to be patient with 12 was when I just accepted it lol)
As example I didn't like Matt for the LONGEST time. But there was one episode where I realized he still had all the same qualities as Tennant showed was when I accepted him. I accepted Tennant after Rose realized he was still the 9 he loved, just with a new face.
Matt's monologue right before the regeneration killed me. I cry every time. I'm such a female lmao. It's jut such a good show with a great message deep down.
Could never get into Torchwood. I really tried.
The writing is definitely off since Matt left. I don't remember I writer leaving? But there are a lot of new names for writers I don't recognize. Damn Moffat though .. his scripts always make me cry.

While at work I got into a conversation with a guy about doctor who. Said I was too young to get to watch the original series and he goes oh just try to find copies, original is so much better. Explained to him three times I'm never going to be able to because the films for the show got ruined in a fire and only some of the episodes were saved before they were switched to digital. Man still didn't get it and said to just find them on DVD box sets ... uhm that's not possible? What kind of mega fan are you?!

I'll let you into a secret, Rose's last scene with the Dr on the beach... damn I blubbed like a bitch. Plus my favourite ever episode was the "Are you my mummy" one with the kids in gas masks bloody loved that one.
I watched a few of the older ones when I was growing up Tom Baker era and it was ok but for me Tennant and Smith have been stand out Dr's.

Sameeeee. I bawled like a baby when they said goodbye. And when Matt was saying goodbye in that monologue lord I couldn't keep it together. Every ending has been so hard.
AND WHEN THE TARDIS' PHYSICAL SELF EVAPORATED? just kill me now. You would think my own mother was dying by how I reacted.π

Yeah that was a hard scene to watch! I'm going to have to catch up on this season on iplayer. Is it true the new sidekick is bi? Seems a very strange direction to go if it's true.

Prettyyyyy sure. But you don't find out for a few episodes.
Think it's just trying to show the storyline can evolve with the times

I'm all for a bit of ladies drinking from the furry cup but it doesn't feel very organic. Probably have a gay Dr one day.

Kinda proves that the story was not as gripping as it was when you can't remember that.

So my plan to catch upon the latest series failed last weekend... Do you know if Netflix have the back catalogue? They as well as hulu had it back in 2014 and 2015 but let go of it on streaming in like early 2016. Netflix has the collection on DVD though. When you search for it it isn't listed on streaming its listed on DVD collection that you can order.

That's a bummer, I've still to catch up A female timelord is happening, not sure how I feel about it really. It would have been great if it was announced and that was it, but no the BBC had to sprout some diversity and gender bollocks to justify it or to guilt the naysayers into thinking they are sexist or something. I hope we get to see her do an actual episode at xmas and not have to wait till easter or something.

HEY. So I found a way to watch classic Who. I haven't tested yet but the old doctors swear by it. Try finding Britbox and see if you can gain access that way. I torrented the current season so I'm all caught up.
I think the female doctor will be interesting. It was fun seeing missy so I'm interested to see what the new one does with the main role. If they cut her after one season I'll sue. And now that moffatt is leaving maybe I'll stop sobbing as muchπ Christmas special looks fun.
Sorry I'm so MIA these days, work and personal stuff has taken over my life and when I'm not busy with those things I try to stay unplugged π€·πΌββοΈ
Have you seen the documentary special on the history of the show's creation?

Hi, good to see you again, flitting in and out is the de rigeur these days and I wholly endorse it.
You're the 2nd person to mention britbox now so I'll have to check it out soon... I'm finding myself busier all the time with ALL tv taking a back seat but I'm trying hard to get back on track. Was the documentary on the BBC? Did I see a one off show where it had modern people depicting what it was like filming a very early Dr Who or was that the documentary?

It's called "An Adventure in Space and time" apparently it's a movie. But the clip of it I saw showed the producers from BBC trying to pitch the story to the actor who eventually plays the first doctor. And the other clips show what went in to creating the music and stage and whatnot. Went into the creation of each monster. Looks interesting. Just wanted to know if it's worth hunting down a copy.
